The fire services fitout for Juni Restaurant in Box Hill was delivered as part of a high-end hospitality project in collaboration with Jointly. Located within a bustling retail and dining precinct, the restaurant's modern design and open kitchen concept required a carefully coordinated fire protection strategy that met all compliance requirements while preserving the integrity of the interior design.
The scope of work included modifications to the existing base building sprinkler system to suit the new layout. Sprinkler heads were relocated and added in accordance with AS 2118.1, ensuring full coverage of dining areas, commercial kitchen spaces, cool rooms, back-of-house, and storage zones. The fire sprinkler layout was closely coordinated with feature ceilings, lighting, and mechanical services to maintain a clean, unobtrusive appearance.
A comprehensive fire detection and alarm system was installed, integrating smoke detectors, thermal sensors in kitchen areas, EWIS (Emergency Warning and Intercommunication System) speakers, and manual call points. All components were connected to the base building fire indicator panel and tested to meet AS 1670.1 and AS 1851 standards. Special care was taken to ensure detectors were installed away from sources of false alarms, such as cooking equipment and vents, while still providing effective early warning coverage.
Jointly’s collaborative project delivery approach allowed for seamless integration with other trades. Regular coordination meetings ensured that fire services installation was completed in line with the project program, especially during key stages such as ceiling closures and equipment commissioning.
The final outcome is a fully compliant, discreetly integrated fire services solution that supports the safety and functionality of Juni Restaurant while respecting its premium design and operational needs.
